Well first off all make sure you have the admin rights to change your screen resolution on the computer. Also you might not have the correct video card drivers installed or your screen doesn't support the resolution that you are trying to set it to.Windows 7 screen resolution won't change?
Your video card, if you have one, has to be able to handle higher resolutions, and also, your monitor.

It could be that 800 x 600 is as high as it will go.

If you have a video card installed, check to see what is the maximum resolution it will handle. Or maybe you just need to install and update your video drivers to work with Win 7
You need to install your graphics card drivers and possibly one for your screen depending on what one you have. I can guide you through this ask me here http://www.pchelphq.com
Not sure, but try this. Go to your desktop. Right click %26amp; click on properties. Go to settings tab and slide screen resolution thing all the way to the right. Click Apply. Did it work?
the first thing to do is update your graphics card drivers

maybe you card will only support the low res

try changing the 32 bit colour to 16 bit colour

change the refresh rate down to 60 hz
