i have a gateway computer my grandfather just gave me that was his. i recovered the computer to factoy settings. i however have a dell flat screen monitor on it (obviously not the original monitor from the computer) after i did the recovery the screen is on a low resolution (the 640 one). and everything on the screen is very large (icons, tool bar, start bar, menu etc) i tried changing the resoultion thinking that it was the problem but it is locked on the 640 and i try changing it and it wont let me. could it be because i have a different monitor on it or is there something else i could do. i also tried changing the resolution directly from the monitor but i couldnt find anything to change it. does anyone have any idea what to do or what could be the problem?How to change screen resolution on gateway computer?
You need to find the driver for the monitor and install it. Right now it is most likely using the default monitor settings. That should resolve the issue.
