My screen looks old fashioned. How do i change it?

I have a Windows Vista, Vostro black Dell laptop. When I opened it the screen was old fashioned. The text is old fashioned and everything looks old. I tried to change the screen resolution but all i could really find out was how to change how wide everything is.. PLEASE HELPMy screen looks old fashioned. How do i change it?
That's bizarre. Some sort of virus perhaps?



If it is a resolution problem, here is how to change it:

1. Start with your desktop.

2. Right click in an empty area. A small menu will appear.

3. Select ';Graphics Properties.';

4. Go to ';Display Settings.';

5. There will be an option to change the resolution.
