Screen resolution won't change from 16bits?

My computer using windows xp will not change resolutions, when I try to move the bar in properties/ settings, it will not move and when I try to change in drop down box, only 16bits is shown. I tried all the trouble shooting they suggest with no results.

Anyone know how to fix this?Screen resolution won't change from 16bits?
if you were able to do this before, then this is simply a driver problem.

go to the control panel -%26gt; system settings -%26gt;hardware -%26gt; device manager -%26gt; display adapters -%26gt; right click on the expanded item and then -%26gt; update driverScreen resolution won't change from 16bits?
More than likely you need a new driver for your graphics card/monitor. If you don't know/can't find the model information, use this: http://www.gold-software.com/UnknownDevi
You need to update your video card drivers. If you have onboard video (no video card) then go to your motherboard manufacturer website and download their drivers. Follow directions to install. If you do have a separate video card that is not part of the board then you need to find out what make and model it is, then go to that manufacturer's website to find the latest drivers.

If you want to see what make and model your motherboard is just go to http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php and click download on the top left.

Hope this helps.
